Avoid the Howard Johnson Hotel

I just wanted to post for anyone going to Disneyland, to avoid the Howard Johnson hotel. What a dive! It's posted on the disney page as " moderate", but it is definitely "economy" in the ratings. It was musty, old, and I was afraid to sit on the bedspread. Also, the freeway is right next door and even with double -paned windows you can hear the cars roar by! We went there because I thought that it was the only hotel for that price with a balcony--but I was wrong...and we paid $111 a night!

Yikes, is there such thing as a "nice" Howard Johnson?

Not anymore...

Have had three truly revolting stays at a motel in the decade. No two were in the same city. All three were HoJos. It's sad but true.

(And don't anyone try to quote the "fool me once..." maxim to me... wouldn't have booked a HoJo after the first stay, but the second was the only possibility within walking distance of a place I had to walk to, and the third was booked for me by someone else. Now I'll go well out of my way to avoid a HoJo.)

I stayed at a HoJo near Orlando. Never ever again.

I had fond memories of staying at Howard Johnson when I was a kid. Thirty years has not been kind to HoJos.

"only hotel for that price with a balcony" I have learned the hard way that the least expensive hotel or least expensive with a certain feature is usually priced that way for a good reason.

We stayed at a HoJo's last June in Western Virginia somewhere. It was clean, old, acceptable - but still a little creepy in a way I could not define.

HoJo doesn't really exist any more. It was just a figment of your imagination... in... The Twilight Zone.

I avoid ALL Howard Johnsons - they were ideal during spring break though!

I cannot think of Howard Johnson without thinking of the movie Fritz the Cat.
