Avoid spring breakers in FL?
Hello! My husband and I are planning a long weekend in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area in the first week of March. However, I'm concerned that we'll be in the middle of a bunch of spring breakers. Advice? I was leaning towards Ft. Lauderdale already (better hotel prices) and was hoping it might be less mobbed than Miami/South Beach. What do you think? And is it a good bet to maybe go for a more expensive hotel in hopes less college kids will be there?

I could be dead wrong, but I think Ft Lauderdale has worked very hard to discourage the spring break crowd. What you may find though is "family break" crowd if kids are out of school then. Clearly the pricier hotels will have fewer students.

And South Beach is tooo expensive for the spring breakers... few rich students spring break in South Beach, but not many.
Have you considered Key Biscayne, verynice, upscale, and very close to South Beach and other attractions. |
Skip south FL and go north.... places like St Augustine are pretty and full of history and things to do.... but the Spring Breakers should be down in Daytona, over an hour away.

No Florida experience, but I know this is how it works in Mexico resorts... Spring breakers typically frequent budget to mid-priced packaged deal resorts. So staying in the more expensive very nice hotels, or in the cheapest local hotels seems to avoid them.
