Thanks, SB_Travlr.

I had a 2-hour drive from Sanford and was glad I had gotten some sleep the night before. For me, 4 hours would have been more difficult.

By driving yourselves, you'll arrive fresher if you can work your stop overs to your liking.

We're also thinking of the AT this winter. Thanks for all the good info.
Would love to see the photo!

Donna-
Your photos are WONDERFUL! I loved Hangmen AND those zoftig "sports" sculptures (where are they??) AND Menton AND the shadow puppets, etc, etc! Our kids ate dinner just last week at Stardust - fun!
Your work is amazing!

Thank you, NGail for your lovely photos words.

The sculptures are at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in DC. They are huge, as you can see by nearby trees, and there were others. NWMA was a Masonic lodge and its big hall is gorgeous. They have a pretty good gift shop also, FYI!

The shadow puppets were from the Philly Flower show. Floral pieces formed the basic shapes and the lighting made the neat figures.

DH and I enjoyed Stardust also. Even in our 60s, we had great fun!

Thanks again, NGail.

For the future: Instead of topping your old threads, you can just post the links in NGail's thread. That way the links to the TRs is right on their thread and they don't have to seek them out.

If you DO use the AT you can always pay the extra charge to have your car unloaded in the first group of unloads.

If you are willing to pay for a full bedroom there is less chance that the bathroom will be "filthy" I suppose.

Do not use ANY Amtrak services (the Northeast Corridor being the notable exception) expecting an on-time arrival.

I'm sorry but the fact that you have to drive at all on 95 or any other highway is not the same as sitting on your duff and enjoying the scenery whether the route you are bypassing is the "easy" one or not. IMO watching that boring non-scenery on parts of 95 is not "easy" but to each their own.
