Austin, Tx - Indoor Sightseeing

I've spent a heap of time looking over activities to do while in Austin.

I've noticed that nearly everything that I've planned is outdoors. Seeing it is supposed to be around 100 degrees, does anyone have any favorite indoor sightseeing adventures to recommend?

Thanks :)

I would suggest the Johnson Library and the Texas State History Museum. And I read somewhere that the flagship Whole Foods on 6th Street is the most frequented tourist attraction in Austin! (It's the largest Whole Foods in the country and has some wonderful things, including a chocolate fountain, sushi bar, escalator for shopping carts to underground parking, etc.)

bellairegirl-

I've read the same thing about the Whole Foods. I think it is funny that a grocery store ranks so well among the tourist world!

Thanks for the suggestions.

You'll understand about Whole Foods once you get there! Central Market is also a great store.

Temperatures are fine in the mornings and don't hit 100 until late afternoon. A walk along the Hike and Bike Trail in the morning is a great way to start your day.

Check out the IMAX theater for a nice cool escape. Right now the new Batman movie is playing as well as a couple of other IMAX movies. It's located inside the Bob Bullock Museum (near the Capitol). Speaking of that, a tour of the Capitol Building would be a great thing to do when it's hot outside.

If you need a nighttime activity and you like to laugh, don't miss Esther's Follies!!

Hi moldy-

If you like art, the Blanton Museum of Art is a nice place to visit for an hour or two. It's right next door to the Texas State Museum.

There are also guided tours of the State Capitol.

You mean that I've missed a "Weird" book!? =-o

No, actually the Visitor's Center website led me right to it.

I'm sure you will be ticking down the minutes for my trip report. ;)
