Austin, TX in November
Hello, we are traveling to Austin in November for 2 nights. We will be 4 adults and 2 young children (almost 3 and not yet 1) so, looking for a family friendly hotel, possibly with suites near Zilker and the children's museum oh, and of course the bats!
I've done some research and it sounds like the Radisson (111 Ceasar Chavez) and the Hyatt (Barton Springs) and strong options but, would very much appreciate some guidance. (Fodors recommends the Doubletree on 15th Street.) Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks! |
I could be wrong, but I think you might be too late for the bats. I think they are usually there through October. We stay at the Holiday Inn on the lake. It is right on the hike and bike trail and I enjoy watching the boating and people and dogs on the trail. There is a playground on the trail too.

Austin is very laid back and child friendly. Lodging on the lake will put you in proximity to lots of activities and provide some nice views. The Children's Museum is quite good. Pick up a copy of the Austin Chronicle for current events when you are in town or go to Austin360.com for more information. Have a great visit and welcome to Texas!

I am bummed we will miss the bats...oh well, we'll just have to come back! Thanks for the tip on Austin360.com - it's been a great help.

Hello Baltimom :)
Welcome to Austin! We're happy to have you! For a suite hotel, there's quite a few options, including the Doubletree, the Hampton Inn & Suites, Radisson, and Extended Stay. Just as a bit of a head's up, know that the weekends of November 7th and November 21st are home games for the Longhorns. Could very well be booked up already. Hopefully, though, you're not coming then (unless you're a football fan!). |
There's also an Embassy Suites, but it's on the other side of the river. But maybe you'll have a car?

You picked a good time to visit. The weather should be nice...
