Austin / Priceline ?

I read where someone was able to get the Hyatt at Town lake for approx. $55 via Priceline. I'd be curious to hear of anyone else that's used Priceline to bid for rooms in Austin and see what hotel they got? In addition, can someone tell me the name of the site that has a forum discussing Priceline? Your help is appreciated!

The site which discusses Priceline is biddingfortravel.com

Sorry, I have no information on Priceline bidding for Austin hotels. I have been to Austin once and I thought it was a very nice city.

Another site that has bidding tips and results for not only Priceline but also Hotwire is

www.betterbidding.com

I bid PL for a 3* room in downtown Austin a couple summers ago (summer of 2001) and was awarded the downtown Sheraton at the end of 6th Street by the highway. Very nice room and I think I paid about $30 plus the PL fee and an energy surcharge of a few dollars that the hotel imposed. Parking was about $14 per night. Overall, a great deal and a good location - very convenient. I know someone else who bid for 4* downtown at about that time and got the Omni - more convenient location and she loved it - I thik she paid $50 or $55 per night.
