Aussie on Kauai
 

We are heading to Kauai in June 2009 to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. He is a big Rugby League fan and is disappointed to be missing the 2nd State of Origin which will be shown on the 23rd June (Kauai time) - can anyone recommend a pub or bar that may be showing this game that I could take my boyfriend to as a surprise? We will have a hire car so are happy to drive somewhere but we are staying on the North Shore.

I doubt if you will find any TV in Kauai tuned to a rugby game. It is simply not a sport that is followed on that island. If the game has an internet feed, bringing a laptop to watch it on may be your only option.

You could try Kalapaki Joe's down in Nawiliwili - it is a type of sports bar, altho' I'm sure rugby isn't something they normally have on. Rugby just isn't followed here by most folks I'm afraid.

Iknow we had a festive time watching world cup soccer at Olympic Cafe a few years ago - in Kaapa. A rather energenic crowd for breakfast/lunch. I would try to find a listing and see if they or wahine's place get the channel. Good luck.

I agree with trying to get the game on the internet. No sports bar will show Rugby. Most people on Kauai have not even seen a rugby game!
