August Wilson Theater
I am trying to get tickets for Jersey Boys - Aug. 26 (5 tickets)
Is there one ticket office that is better than the others to purchase tickets ?
I don't want to wait until the last minute & stand in line for the tickets.
We are looking for seats in the orchestra section. Any opinions on those
seats ? Thanks

The direct and least expensive way to purchase full-price tickets for that show is via telecharge.com.And, since you're talking about a weekend performance, I'd get the tickets ASAP, as the show is still doing very well at the box office.

New York Broadway plays (sometimes entire theater networks, but sometimes producers) work exclusively one direct seller. Different shows use different services (Telecharge, Ticketmaster, and even local services). If you don't buy tickets from the official seller, then you are buying from a ticket broker (i.e., a scalper) and will pay more than face value. If you want to avoid the substantial fees, then you need to go physically to the theater and buy from the box office.
Some plays (not usually Jersey Boys) have active discount offers, and to use those you either buy from the official ticket seller using a code, or you go directly to the box office.
You can also buy discount same- or next-day tickets from TKTS booths in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but you can't do this in advance.

If you're talking about Jersey Boys being available at TKTS, your chances of getting them are slim to non-existent for a Friday evening. (The chances are fairly slim for any performance of Jersey Boys for that matter.)
As followup to both Doug's and my previous posts, the only difference in ticket costs between going to the box office and buying the tickets through telecharge is the handling charge (around $6-7 a ticket) at the latter. However, since the original poster is from out of town, she really has no choice if she wants to get the tickets, since she's likely to be out of luck if she waits until she gets here and goes to the box office.
As for waiting time in the TKTS line, obviously it depends upon the time of days and/or the day of the week. But, the odds are that you'll encounter a line in the early afternoon hours for evening performances and mid-morning for Saturday matinee tickets.

Yes, I agree with everyone. You're not going to find Jersey Boys for a weekend night at TKTS regardless of how long you wait. And you could wait as long as 45 minutes on a busy day.
The line at the South Street Seaport may be shorter, but only if you get there earlier. There's a fraction of the staff, so even though the line is shorter, it can take just as long, and the line is often about a block long. (The good thing, however, is that you can buy matinee tickets the day before, unlike at the TKTS booth).
The best time to go to TKTS is around 5 or 5:30. The line rarely takes more than 15 or 20 minutes. But you go at that time because you want to see "some" show rather than a specific show. There will always be tickets to something, but it may not be what you want to see.
