August in Waikiki..Rainy???

Planning on a trip to Waikiki in August. Have heard rumors that this is the rainy season...true or false? THanks!
Michele, It may rain a little more then, but you will still get plenty of sun. Often it may just rain at night, or late afternoons for just a short while. Or there might be a few minutes worth of sprinkes off and on during the day. then again, it may be dry the whole time!

Living on Oahu my entire life, I can tell you that August is not the rainy season. On the contrary, it's one of the warmer and sunnier months (temp. 78-90 F). Of course rain is always possible. But the rainy season is probably from Dec. to March. Even so, the rain doesn't last for more than 3 days.

We have been to Hawaii during the summer 3 times and it has never been rainy...quite to the contrary! The summer is supposed to be the driest season!

Winter is the rainy season in Hawaii. each island has a dry side and a rainy side, but of course they put the big resort hotels on the dry side.

LOTS more info about Maui restaurants, hotels, activities, sights, etc, at this web site:
http://www.mauihawaii.org
(note it ends in org, not com)
Jon
Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I should only listen to Fodorites!
