August in Hilton Head: Too Hot?

Thanks for all the great responses, but I just heard that it's too hot in Hilton Head in mid-late August. Is this true?

Depends on what's too hot for you. It can vary (believe it or not we saw very low humidity and almost cool evenings one August weekend) but it will likely be around 90 degrees (during the day) with high humidity. Nights in the 70s.

If you're planning a lot of beach time, those temps should be fine. If you're planning on walking a lot in nice clothes (long pants) you'll likely sweat. It depends on your tolerance for heat I guess. It wouldn't keep us away.
