August in Hawaii
 

Is Mid-August good time to visit Hawaii? We're looking to visit Kauai. Is there a chance of hurricane?

Many-many happy Augusts spent on Kauai. Start booking early since it is a high season with the families.

Is there a chance for a hurricane? Probably (I think Iniki was in September and I do not remember about Iwa), but why focus on the negative? Go and enjoy yourselves!

Any time is a good time to visit Hawaii.

A hurricane seems to hit one of the islands about once every 15 years or so.

No reason to even think about hurricanes during your vacation.

What a ridiculous question. That's like me asking if I go to Kansas will I have to worry about tornado's. Or if go to LA or San Francisco will there be an earthquake. There are people who go to war torn countries every day for vaction and your worried about hurricanes? I have family in Hawaii and hurricanes are about as frequent as a new pope being appointed.

I agree that any month is a good month to go to Hawaii. August is still high season so it will be more crowded but still beautiful.

I'd suggest looking for a place near the North Shore. It is really nice that time of the year.

It is hurricane season so there is always a chance of one but not like being in the Carribean(last one in Hawaii was 16 years ago).

South Shore is full of wonderful condos. Surf right onto the www.suiteparadise.com and take a look at all the reasonable condo options.

xymox - FYI - Kauai will be hot in August. Since you are travelling w/ a toddler, please make sure you get a place w/ air conditioning or that definitely gets tradewinds. We just returned from a Kauai trip w/ a 1 and 3 year old, and it was fantastic.

If I were going To Kauai in August I would stay in a condo on the northshore. The northshore is ablsolutely beautiful. (Turtle Bay is on the island of Oahu.)

We went in Feb. (rainy season)and stayed in Poipu (Southshore)--you would be happy there also. You would have a hard time making a bad decision on where to stay.

I'm heading back for my 4th visit to the North Shore -- so you know I love it. Three of my visits have been in August -- and I've never had a problem with the weather.

I stay at Sealodge condos. They're reasonable priced -- and the views are INCREDIBLE! And FYI, I HATE the heat, but I was fine there with only a fan, because of the gentle breezes coming off the ocean.

("north shore" Turtle Bay resort is on Oahu)
