August 13-18 in Ft. Myers, FL

My girlfriend and I, both 27, no kids, will be in Ft. Myers next weekend. Most of our time will be spent with local family, who are also up for a good time. We are looking for restaurants and attractions, some touristy, some not, that will give us the best experience. We enjoy good music, trying new drinks, and want to make the best of the climate.

Independents Pagelli's and Blue Water Bistro are very good. The chains are as well, but you can do those anywhere.

For a beach day, I'd go down to Bonita Beach, nicer sand and water and Doc's Beach House is there for lunch on the sand.

Key Lime Bistro on Captiva Island... especially when theres music on the outside patio... also a fun place for music and a group of people is the PARROT KEY at Ft.Myers beach...have fun!

I started to mention Parrot Key, but it really is for older people. The Frank Torino show is geared to retirees. The food is good there and it is a lot of fun but I didn't think it would be that much fun for young adults.

When were you last a Key Lime Bistro. The food has taken a dive there. Time's are hard for small restaurants.

I love the Campy atmosphere of Parrot Key, The setting on the water and the Tiki Bar... If you want to avoid the Seniors, go earlier in the Day and hang at the bar..

Key Lime Bistro did have a golden period for quality food, but its the Keys atmosphere that makes it attractive....

As far as food goes... theres really nothing that good in Ft. Meyers... mostly average and touristy... Naples is a far better choice for food...

Thanks for the ideas Gary and Honoria. What places do you recommend in Naples?

Honoria_Glossop Aug 11th, 2009 09:42 AM

A Table Apart
Sea Salt
Two Brothers

These are in Naples and Bonita Springs.

The favorites of most are: Campiello, Tommy Bahama, Trulucks, and maybe Handsome Harry's. The bar at Campiello is an interesting sociological study in the habits of Cougars <G>
