Utahtea you are one busy person! How do you find the time?! Enjoyed your websites and pictures. I keep getting the urge to purchase a motor home. My wife and I operate an in-home daycare in Atlanta. Its amazing with all you are involved with, you must have 36 hours in your day! My wife gives me a hard time for spending alot of my time at fodors, I give her a hard time because she is a e-bay regular!

SmokyBoy,

Can't you tell....I'm addicted to travel message boards!

My job is just part time and I love working on the computer. My DH likes to surf with his remote control and watch TV and I like to surf the internet.

Our new Grandbaby lives 2,600 miles away and if he didn't then I wouldn't have time for these message boards at ALL! ;-)

I'm only a semi-regular, but here goes:
64 years old, married to the same guy for almost 40 years. We both love to travel and I find the Fodor's site a big help. I'm a recovering career politician - 20 years in the state legislature - and a Democrat. Have lived in Scotland, traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe, several trips to S.E. Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Hong Kong, Japan). Planning future trips to Bhutan and to Churchill, Manitoba, to see the polar bear migration. We're looking forward to retirement with more extensive travel.

50...it really isn't that bad!

Live in a sleepy little 'burb of Sackotomatos in NorCal. (not "Cali"!).

In love with that same woman for over 29yrs...and if Mrs Kal finds out I'm dead man.
We're "DINKs by choice w/ no regrets".

I was a retired balloon salesman.
Made a lot of money during the Carter Admin. due to high inflation.

Lost is all in an ice mine in Death Valley.
I figured it would be a good investment because someone said when Hillary Clinton wins a seat in the US Senate, Hell would freeze over.

I try my darnest to avoid politics, right M55? ><

Not quite as "big" as Big Daddy but my 6'4" 255# frame does have a problem on flights over 5-6hrs.
Mrs Kal's "5 foot-nuthin'" frame goes anywhere.

The Atkins Diet (Chet Atkins-cigarettes, whiskey, honkeytonk wimmin' and BBQ) has reduced my waist size by almost 4" but "it" still looks like a "Roadrunner boulder landing on the Coyote." quot;>

Love wine, womAn and song.
(I'll be posting my Sacto Jazz Jubilee TR shortly).

As most who know us, we love meeting new people and those we've met thru Fodor's have been the nicest people not to mention quite handsome and very attractive.

Something about the travel?

Mahalos to all and remember,
"No ...No

14VK8SHN,
What's the significance of your screen name?
OliveOyl,
I thought that we might hear a little more about your wonderful mother-in-law.
Big Daddy,
Are you inclined .... I say... are you inclined to exaggerate?

Great bios from everyone. Here's mine:

I'm 28, a California native. My husband and I got married a little over a year ago. Neither of us have children. We live in San Jose but grew up over on the coast. I'm an engineer.

With the exception of a few business trips to Japan, all my travel has been in the US. My husband has been all over Europe and to several countries in the Middle East (compliments of the US Army).

We both like the outdoors and cities, good beer, hanging out in pubs, finding really good cheap eats, hockey and football. When we travel we like to see a variety of things - regional culture and food, historical things, atchitecture, natural beauty.

Found this site in the spring of 2001 and have found it a great resource for great vacations!

Live in the same town as Kal but not on the same side of the freeway.

Mid forties, married for almost 22 years, 2 kids 9 & 13.

Grew up in a beach town in southern CA, college years in Fresno where I developed hay fever. Lived in Portland OR for a time in the early 80s and loved it there as it has some really beautiful scenery along the gorge and on the coast.

Love living in nothern CA with its great weather and day trip opportunities.

Hello All. Isn't this neat? Thanks 14VK8SHN.

Big_Daddy and I were off the air this weekend because we were off together where he was teaching me how to have a sense of humor

Sorry about the tiff we had over political correctness Big D.
I'm back and promise to BEHAVE. gt;

Anyhoo, 3 year fodorite regular who has helped (and probably offended) 1000's with posts under my former name. (Anyone who frequents the Caribbean or Latin America board prolly knows who I iz.)

I'm 40 married to a 50 yr old. No kids by choice. Been all over the Caribbean, including all of Caribbean Mexico and to all U.S. states but Hawaii.

We raise and show American Quarter horses when not traveling and SCUBA diving.

wow, so many great responses.

I used to post as cp-at-xient, but when I had to register I thought Bay Area was more evocative.

33, Female, never married, no kids. Grew up in Santa Fe, NM and relocated to the SF bay area for school. It was so delightful, I could never leave, and so I've spent the last 15 years bopping around Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco.

I'm an avid traveller (mostly budget), a wanna-be food/wine snob and also an outdoorsperson, to me camping really is that: pitching a tent, cooking with white gaz...

Yeah...Suuuuzie lives in the expensive Zip Code while I'm still on the wrong side of the trax.

I hear yah about hay fever, tho. Never had a problem until I "did 2 yrs." in Stockton and the peat dust killed me.

Only real prob. I have now in this area is when we go for a long bike ride in Napa/Sonoma in the Spring (missed it this year) or if it's a windy local ride on the Amer River Bike Trail and the cottonwoods are "shedding".
Lasik surgery didn't help any
either!

Oh brother Kal

Thought we were buying a house in the boonies, after all there were cows on Cirby and nothing past Mervyns on Douglas when we first moved there. I challenge you to find a dirt lot along Douglas or Cirby now!!!!

I suppose none of you fell for my previous bio. so here goes with the real one.

I'm in my mid-fifties and have a raspy voice that women die for.
Born in Hope, AR and spent about 8 years in D.C.
Use to use the nickname Bubba but decided to go with Big_Daddy now.
I like to play golf.
I now live in New York and am semi-retired - occasionally I do a little public speaking.
Being semi-retired I love to play on the net and sites like Fodors.

I used to like the term Big Daddy. Use it in reference to my own kids' dad because of height, but now I don't know! Wasn't Big Daddy used in "Long Hot Summer"? Anyway that's when I first heard it.

Maybe you could go back to using Bubba?

Male, 51, reside in Portland, OR (usually living somewhere else in my mind), and married to the same woman for 29 years come September. We were 13 years into married life as DINKS before adopting the first of our two kids, who are now 15 and 10. No regrets, but they sure put a dent in the travel budget!!!

As a 19 year old I spent the better part of a year pedaling a bicycle around Europe, where the travel larvae in me hatched. Got a job in the travel industry upon return; great fun, but no security. So I became a pilot.....been flying a desk pushing numbers around for over 20 years now.

My bio let's see. I look like Pamela Anderson minus the tatoo and the rock star arm candy. Since I had my implants removed, my dh just hooks me up to his air compressor.

Seriously though...I am a 40 year old stay at home mom to a cute little 5 year old girl who has traveled with us since she was 2 weeks old. Much to my Mother's dismay. In my other life, I worked at Chase Manhattan. I currently live in Columbus, Ohio. Love to tailgate before Ohio State football games, have a boat on Lake Erie. My family also owns a house on Put-In-Bay, so if anyone has any questions on the Lake Erie Islands ask away. I belong to the local community rec center where I do step aerobics, swim, lift weights and do the dreadmill. I like fine wine, cooking and entertaining and just hanging around with family and friends. I also love to ski and usually go out west one week a year sans dh who wouldn't be caught dead on 2 planks going down a mountain.

Hey OO that sander my dh bought me is a little bitty thing that fits in my palm. Works great. I don't think it would gouge your teak.

These replies are great so I'll add my modest 2cents in.

I'm a mother of two great kids who love to travel as much as I do, a lawyer working for a big, big corporation, 41 years old, been married to the same great guy for 16 years and plan on being married for as many more as God will allow.

I live on the North Shore of Massachusetts in a great town that is also a tourist destination so I tend to hype it a little bit. No place on earth is a beautiful to me as home.

I love to travel and to help others plan their travel hence my addiction to this board. Most travel has been in the US and Canada but I hope to branch out soon.

My basic motto in life is that "I want to go places and eat things". In other words I don't care where I go because everything is interesting to me. And when I get there I want to try whatever the local cuisine is. And I want to hear local music also - particularly home grown fiddle music.

This site has been a great help to me since I ran across it in 1999. I always come here for help when I am planning a trip.
I am female, age 49, accountant for a law firm in a small West TN town and married to the same great guy for 25 years. We have a 22 year old daughter that is moving to Texas this fall to start her masters degree and an 18 year old son that recently joined the Army. He is in bootcamp in Ft. Benning, GA.
My husband and I love to travel and I love to research. We can't travel as much as I would like to. Our favorite places so far have been Kauai and New Orleans. Keep all the great advice coming.

Hi -- I have been visiting Fodors for about 1.5 years now & posting occasionally.

I am a full-time litigation paralegal for a well-known Manhattan law firm. I am married with one daughter. My daughter has been travelling since she was nine weeks old.

My DH and I travelled together for about 10 years before my daughter was born. We have mostly travelled in the US and the Caribbean but have visited Great Britain & Ireland once. We have also been on 5 cruises and have been to Canada several times.

Nowadays, we try to visit as many National Parks/NPS sites as possible.

We go away 4 times a year with the "big trip" the last two weeks in August. This year that trip will include LA, MS, TN, NC, & VA.
