Attire for Seattle in May....
My husband and I are going to spend 5 days in Seattle, starting tomorrow (May 6) and we're coming from Phoenix where it's been 100 degrees for the last three days!
I've looked at the weather forcast and we're looking at the low 60's and a few showers. Here are my questions: 1) Are open toed shoes or sandles acceptable before Memorial Day? 2) Are people wearing spring colors or still the darker colors: i.e. do I wear my blue denim jean jacket or my white denim jacket. These may seem like trivial questions and I guess they are, but I'm a woman and I like to be dressed right for the occasion! Thanks for any advice. Darcey |
Seattle is very open to whatever you'd like to wear. You will find a variety of dress all over so relax and wear what you want to. I would be prepared for any kind of weather since we have had 80 degree days already and then the next it can hail and thunder. Spring time in the PNW :-).

I'm with pnltybox7. We are casual in the Northwest.
If it's sunny, go for it - bright and open. Celebrate! If it's grey and wet, close those toes or you'll get wet feet! It looks like you'll be coming for cooler weather, and, being from Phoenix, you'll probably feeze to death, so dress accordingly. (My son complained about how hot it was the other day when it was 78 degrees out....) |
Anything goes here and it is always a good idea to layer. No heavy clothes needed. I dumped all my New York City winter stuff when I moved back here fifteen years ago.

I'm wearing all my open toed sandles and heels, pinks and greens and whites. They said it was suppose to rain here all week and instead it's been sunny and 60, but that feels warmer to me. Bring a selection! Have fun!

Thanks for the info. It sounds like I can't go wrong. I feel better already!
