Attire atop the Met on Friday nights

Hello! Can someone share their personal suggestion regarding attire for a cocktail atop the Metropolitan Museum on Friday nights? We will be walking through the park to get there and really just planned to dress way casual--shorts and such. Too casual?

Waay too casual.

Absolutely anything goes...

If you go to the Metropolitan Museum site, they have information on all the dining areas etc. Maybe you can get an idea from that.

The garden at the top of the Met is a wonderful way to see the park and enjoy the lights of the city.

Casual attire will be what just about everyone else will be wearing, except maybe for people attending a concert at the museum that evening.

If you want to dress up a bit, and then have dinner at the museum or at a nicer restaurant in the area, there are lots of nice places to choose from.

Mostly though you will see people coming from work in business clothing to enjoy the music on the balcony and tour the museum.

Have a wonderful time, the Met is one of the best museums in the world.

If you're referring to the outdoor sculpture garden (the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden), there's certainly no dress code and you'll see everything.

Shorts? Of course.

Nothing is "too casual" on the roof.

Enjoy!

Yeah, Gekko! Just the news I wanted! We aren't slobs, but it's gonna be hot and humid. I'll make sure the guys "gussy up" a bit, but shorts are the plan, and I'm thrilled to know that we can take in the view of the city in the evening and not be out of place!

It's an outdoor roof garden with beer/wine (not dinner or tables) -- it's virtually impossible to be "out of place," whatever your attire. No need to make the guys "gussy up."

Simply enjoy!
