when going to a convention, I always check the "before and after" accomodations in case I want to spend more time in the area.
These are some of my discoveries::
Feb. 24-26 Dental society convention
32,000 people expected, March 7-11 5,000 Geographic Society . March 7-12 a group is meeting of 1,200 is meeting at O'Hare and March 12-14
60,000 attendees at many downtown venues !!!!
Hope this help someone
else. I have restructured my trip to middle of March

Most of the conventions are listed here

Chicago typically handles 10,000-20,000 conventioneers a day. When that number gets to 40,000 or above, there may be an impact on hotels. However, please note that groups at the Rosemont/Donald Stephens Center, Oakbrook Center, Indian Lakes Resort, Pheasant Run and the new Woodfield Convention Center don't affect the downtown hotels.

bardo - I don't think it's this topic that does it. Long subject lines are fine - it's ones that don't put spaces between words that cause problems. There's a thread about a round-the-world trip that has several cities in a row, separated by dashes instead of spaces. That's the one causing the problem.

"patg" thanks for info about "other" convention areas-had no idea of these areas
Also I did not know there were "rules" about how many words in title/subject line....I do think it is important to put location and time frame in title... so many times I have seen subject line with just one to three words..
Plus, sometimes the left column is more narrow than others--????
