Atlantic side
 

Any suggestions for vacation spots? Atlantic side preferably. Our kids are 14, 12 and 10. It's our first trip. They want a nice beach.

Boston is great you will enjoy it .. the whale watch is fantastic. It rates up there with feeding the sting rays!!

New Smyrna Beach Fl. Great beach, ! hour from Disney

Maine's coast is beautiful too!<BR><BR>The beaches in North Carolina (Outer Banks area) are really nice also.

sorry.....Atlantic side of Florida. Gulf side is okay too but we'll be coming from Connecticut so not too far west.

You're coming from Conn..not too far west???????<BR><BR>The Atlantic is on the east side of Florida (and the entire United States for that matter) I would think too far south would be your trouble..anyhow if you're coming from Connecticut, does an extra hour or two of driving really make that much of a difference?

We know who the real idiot is.<BR><BR>Jeez, the Atlantic side of FL cover a wide range of beaches and communities. <BR><BR>I've never bee there, but a lot of people seem to like New Smyna. There's also the area that runs from Cocoa Beach-Melbourne-Vero. Some nice beaches on that stretch but some areas may be too qiuet for the kids' liking. Though you could break things up with a day trip to Cape Canaveral or Orlando.

Somebody is having a bad day! Try Fort Lauderdale. Many New Englanders visit and they enjoy it.

I agrfee that the Cape is a great place to take the kids. Nasa has a ton of websites explaining their museums, launches, etc. My family went there when I was young and it is something I will never forget - especially the launch (while the space shuttles are the most impressive, other launches are still sure to please).<BR><BR>As for the beaches, I would say the further you go down the east coast, the better the beaches get. That does not mean they are better places to visit. The reason the beaches are better, I believe, is that the water gets clearer the further south you go (Florida is closest to the Gulf Stream further south) and truly sandy beaches predominate. I live in the Palm Beach area, and our beaches are great, but for some reason Palm Beach County seems to have bad sea lice this year (related to jelly fish and makes you itch if you don't rinse off real well after getting out of the water). I don't believe Ft. Lauderdale and miami are experiencing this at their beaches....

"Duh" has given himself the right name. I didn't say I've never been to FL; I said I'd never been to New Smyrna. Fact is, I own a home on the Atlantic side of FL.<BR><BR>Is it the economy, or something, that's getting people to respond they way they are?
