Atlantic City

I plan to take my parents to Atlantic City for a few days this August.(I have never been) They will be visiting from Florida. Need suggestions for a hotel. Mom is the gambler, and dad, would enjoy the board walk (food, people, ocean) any suggestions that would satisfy both and wow them at the same time?

Most of the casinos are on the boardwalk so you can't go wrong. I stayed in the Tropicana years ago and it was fine.

So you don't like your parents all that much....that's why you're taking them to AC?
What a rat hole that place is.
Dirty, unsafe, run down and smelly.
Oh well.

Please think of another place to take your parents.
Atlantic City is is dirty and unsafe.
Take them to Connecticut instead. Have never been myself but people say it is a lot better then Atlantic City.

Like postal said, most of the hotels are on the boardwalk - but some are more out of the way than others. The Tropicana is at one end and a pretty good walk from many of the other hotels/casinos, so you might want to consider that. Bally's and Caesar's are in a good central location - and both are good hotels.

Atlantic City is fun in the summertime but I personally would limit it to 2 days. I wouldn't say that AC is unsafe - I'm assuming that you'll stick primarily to the Boardwalk and won't be wandering down unknown side streets at 2:00 in the morning. It's not my favorite gambling destination but it isn't as horrible as some of the previous posts would indicate.

The boardwalk is NOT that safe. Last time I was there I was followed SEVERAL different times by people trying to "con" me. They were relentless. One guy screamed at us to give him money. We literally had to run.

IMO, AC is a slum where the scum of the earth hang out. I can't imagine a worse destination. Unfortunately, I've had to go there about 10 times for work-related reasons.

If you want to go there and not have people bother you, dress in your worst rags - I'm serious! Maybe people won't think you have money and will leave you alone. My boyfriend and I wore khakis...WAY overdressed...while other people there wear sweats with holes in them. So we were a target.

Follow other peoples' advice and head to the CT casinos.
