Atlantic Beach, NC Help!
 

My adult daughter and I will be traveling to Cherry Pt. Military base to visit a friend and would like to get some R&R on a beach not too far from there. Atlantic Beach was recommended but I am not familiar at all with the coastal area. Any ideas? Hotels?

Atlantic Beach would probably be the most accessble beach to Cherry Pt with a wide range of lodging. There are some other beaches nearby (Emerald Isle for example) but most of their lodging is condo or home rentals.

For AB hotels, I recommend two: the Sheraton if you want a high-rise, 'brand-name' hotel with all your expected amenities. Probably the safest choice-

My favorite is the Seahawk Motor Lodge two doors down. Its only two stories high, and all rooms have a great oceanfront view. As the 'motor lodge' name implies, it remains true to its heritage: an old-fashioned beach motel that clean and comfortable.

Try the Island Grill. Reservation required. Monday and Tuesday are 2 for 1 nights, 2 dinners for he price of 1. Very small is the only downer.
