TTT. I know very little about Va Beach even though I'm just a bit over an hour away but let's see if we can get you an answer.

Not sure what you are looking for in the way of description.....none of these are neighborhood areas where locals reside. Atlantic Ave is pretty much hotels, restaurants and shops catering to tourists. The beach is fine all along Atlantic Ave.

The 500 block of Atlantic Avenue is at the southern end of the beach close to Rudee Inlet. It is popular with surfers.

The 1500 block is more in the middle of the boardwalk. It will be the most crowded and is popular with young people.

The 3500 block is closer to residential areas and is a little more sedate and I'd expect to see more families there.

These are just generalizations. There are great places to stay and dine all along Atlantic Ave. I no longer live in Va Beach so my observations are from a few years ago.

Are you looking at hotels, condos, apartments? Will this be a beach vacation? Do you have kids?

What Judy said is still correct. In the season, the whole "strip" is very busy. The beach around 9th Street is very crowded since a campground provides free parking for the campers. This is where you might find us; we have camped there since the late 90's, although we prefer the beaches in Sandbridge.

Up around the pier there is a small amusement park. At 17th St you will find the DQ with the public bathrooms; the beach otherwise provides porta-potties. (If you are in a beachfront hotel, no worries there!). As you go further up, the crowds tend to thin out a bit.

Tell us which hotels you are looking to stay at. There is a brand new Hilton Garden Inn which is really nice. The Hilton hotel is very nice. There are two Courtyard Marriotts which we have liked over the years. One has both an indoor and outdoor pool and is on the northern end. We like that one better. There is a springhill suites which is newer than the Courtyards on the southern end which is nice.

The northern end of the boardwalk is more built up and getting nicer with new stores. Around 33rd St. The Hilton sits on this corner.
