Atlanta Restaurants
Appreciate any update on current Atlanta restaurants for weekend after next. Staying in Buckhead but willing to travel a bit.
There is a new restaurant called Roy's for Roy Yamaguchi...the Hawaiian chef it has super yummy pineapple martinis, very potent...also things like seared Tuna, all kinds of carribbean/panasian food. On the corner of piedmont and lenox.
You can skip Pano's and Paul's - okay, but relatively expensive for a so-so dining experience. Tu Tu Tango is fun for a quick meal, nothing fancy, decent drinks and wine ... Pharr Rd., a block off Peachtree in Buckhead. The Buckhead Diner is okay - on Piedmont, near intersection with Pharr and Peachtree. Ciao

Canoe. On the Chattahoochee River. Great setting, good food, pricey. Very shi-shi. Advantage is that on the drive there (W Paces Ferry Rd) you get to see some really splendid antebellum homes.
Blue Ridge Grill is good, too, and it's on W. Paces Ferry. Very stylish place.
My favorite restaurant in Buckhead, however, is the Rib Ranch. Very, very low-style but really, really good BBQ.
Have fun.

Thanks! Love the Roys at Naples Fl and Pebble Beach so may try to Atlanta one too! Any advice on Brasserie La Coze or Anthony's?
Also Nava is great in Buckhead...lunch is much more reasonable...THE LOBSTER TACO!! Also try the restaurants in the Virginia Highlands...Surin for Thai...Harvest for Brunch (everything from steaks-seafood)...Harry & Son's for sushi...my favorite is DISH!
If you get over to Howell Mill Road around lunch, go to Taqueria del Sol and try the fish taco. For a very nice, upscale treat, try nearby Bacchanalia's luncheon menu. Haven't been to Commune, which is in same neighborhood, but it's gotten good word of mouth. There's much buzz about Joel, but I think it requires mega-$$$. Look over on chowhound.com for a comment on it. I also like Decatur's restaurants. If you like wide variety of beers, try the Brick Store Pub in Decatur. Its food is a nice complement- honest pub fare.

I'll second the fish tacos at Tacqueria del Sol. They're awesome, plus it's a fun place.
Waffle House, The Varsity, and Krystal. Three Southern legends, none of them shi-shi, and none of them expensive.
Joel's is supposed to be cutting edge cuisine and atomosphere. Have not been, but would like to go. Brasserie la Coze is very good. Oh Maria, upscale Mexican, is very good. And there is always the Ritz Carlton Buckhead, a class act.
Judy

I never miss a chance to go to Brasserie La Coze. Great for lunch or dinner. Try the mussels if you like them- excellent!
Brasserie La Coze is very good. Anthony's is in a lovely old plantation house but the food tends to be just average. Bluepoint is a very attractive and popular place in Buckhead. Floataway Cafe (same owners as top-ranked Bachanalia) is very good. Besides those already mentioned in Virginia Highland area Noche is good for Southwestern and La Tavola for Italian. The Food Studio in an old factory building near downtown has wonderful decor and good menu.
Go to Zagat.com for more suggestions.

All in Buckhead...The Atlanta Fish Market (good luck getting in)......and even though it's chain I love the Cheesecake Factory in Buckhead
Also the flying biscuit..rave reviews. It is in the Grant Park area. If you like thai...the best is Tamarind on 14th street, right off the highway. Cafe Intermezzo on Peachtree between MIdtown and buckhead is great for coffees and elaborate desserts..outside eating w/ heaters in winter. Fish bone is across the street...lots of conch and carribbean style food.
I can't believe everyone forgot about the great Buckhead steakhouses. Bone's is unbelievable and has GREAT service. So is Chop's, but a little more stuffy. But when you need a perfectly aged steak and great service, either way, you can't go wrong.
