Atlanta: How many days

My ticket allows me to stopover in Atlanta. I have never been to Atlanta before, how many days do need in Atlanta to see the main attractions? I have not finalized my travel plans, at present I debating about taking a stopover in Atlanta. Any info/advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

A day or two would probably plenty of time, unless you're planning to visit the outlying areas.

less than one, IMHO

Haha, I was going to post the same as Jeannie at the risk of being rude.
Since she already ran interference I'll offer the same comment.....less than one IMHO.

everyone is being a little bit harsh to atlanta.... you can go see a braves game, or go hike at stone mountain, or go get a drink at one of the hot spots on Buckhead.... atlanta is not as bad as everyone has stated. I don't know what your interests are, but if you want to see atlanta, you should check it out, it is a pretty cool place. I suggest checking out hotels on orbitz near the activites you want to partake in. as for days.. 2 or 3 should do fine

The standing joke in ATL is that it is a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit here! You don't say what time of year you're coming but be aware that it is VERY hot in the summer. Suggestions already made are good. There are great restaurants all around, good botanical gardens, good concerts, etc. Go to www.accessatlanta.com and see if there's anything going on while you're here. Concerts at Chastian Park are wonderful. I love living here (and am a native Georgian) but I would be hard pressed to be a tourist here for more than a day.

Another vote for staying away in the summer. It can get brutally hot and humid.
