Atlanta hotel questions

I am going to be attending a conference for a week in March at the Georgia World Congress Center. It's a big conference, and just about every hotel downtown is sold out already. I was wondering about MARTA and the ease of staying somewhere outside of the downtown area and traveling in each day for the conference?I am looking for a hotel with larger rooms and/or a kitchenette, as I'll be there a whole week. Any suggestions?

I recommend that you try hotels in the Buckhead area using Priceline. MARTA would be in walking distance to the majority of the hotels. There are two different stations, Lenox and Buckhead.

You don't mention the dates, but is the Glenn Hotel sold out? It is my favorite in Atlanta!!!!
It is downtown, but since it is not a chain hotel, possibly there are some rooms left.
Good luck!

I just stayed at the Amerisuites on Peachree in Downtown. Great rate - good reviews on TripAdvisor. AmeriSuites have big room (suites) and may be what you are looking for.

THE Peachtree Street.

330 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA.
If you are going south on Peachtree from the Fox, it's on the right before you get to International and the cluster of high rise 4stars - Marquis, Hyatt, Westin, etc. and the Hard Rock.

Actually, it's right at the split of W. Peachtree. The front faces Peachree and the parking deck overlooks West Peachtree at the back.

The REAL Peachtree - none of the psuedo-Peachtree streets named such for status reasons.

Thanks. I'll try and see if they still have rooms for my conference dates.

We stay at the Embassy Suites at Perimeter mall. It is adjacent to a marta station. (They will give you a ride in the shuttle.)It is about 30 minutes from downtown, but away from the convention hassle.

You could also try airport hotels that have a free airport shuttle, as the MARTA station is in the baggage claim area. Just remember to factor in the commute time from the outlying areas to the GWCC. When you return to the airport you just need to call the shuttle from their courtesy phone for your pickup.

You can buy a multi-day tourist-type MARTA pass that will give you unlimited rides during a certain amount of time. I don't remember the details.

If this is a big conference, MARTA usually offers a "convention" discount for multiple rides/days. You might take that into consideration when looking for a hotel. You buy the pass at the airport station.

I think the Georgian Terrace in Midtown would be perfect for you. It's one block from the North Avenue MARTA station. They offer suites, many with kitchenettes. Great location, too!

There's a site that I like for this kind of stuff:
http://www.hotelsbycity.net/blog/usa/georgia/decatur/

I've used this one a lot, since it's soooo much better to get a hotel recommendation from someone who's stayed there. I've definitely dodged a couple of bullets (not literally...or, hmmm, maybe I have !!!) by using this site.

First time poster, is this a commercial venture?

I trust www.tripadvisor.com more than an unknown entity.
