Atlanta area schools

Our daughter is graduating from college in May and is planning to look for an elementary school teaching job in the Atlanta area. What are the school districts with the best reputations? I understand the school districts are organized by counties.

Pick any other state besides GA, AL, MS and she'll be doing better than any Atlanta Metro school.

I live in Altanta. If she wants to work in the school districts with the most money, I would recommend north fulton or cobb.

The ATL Journal-Constitution publishes "Ultimate Atlanta School Guide," a bienninial guide to Atlanta's schools. "More than 600 pages of information on 800+ public schools and more than 100 private schools in metro Atlanta." Check it out at www.ajc.com/infostore. Take a look at Decatur City and Peachtree City school; also Fulton County.

We lived in the Atlanta area for 15 years. It is very true that the districts seem to be organized by counties, and they can very greatly. Cobb county schools usually do very well.

After Sept. 11, aren't we all one country undivisible? A country of love and equality. In that vane, let me encourage your daughter to teach in the south Atlanta public schools where she can make a difference. The children of the disinherited, disenfranchised, unpriviledged southside of Atlanta deserves only the best. They deserve love and will return your daughter's love with a love more priceless and joyful than can be conjured up in any lily-white suburb. Through the love and toil of your daughter, a thousand flowers might grow in south Atlanta.

I recommend Cobb, Gwinnett, and Fayette as the best districts in Atlanta area. (I am a little biased since my mom is a Fayette middle school teacher and I am graduate of Fayette school system). Only problem with these counties is that they are notorious for lowest pay, since everyone wants to work there.
Other up and coming counties are Henry, Forsyth, and Cherokee. These counties are growing fast and desparately need teachers.
