Atlanta airport to Marietta, GA traffic

I'll be flying into Atlanta mid-April and driving to Marietta. Can any of you local folks tell me what impact the bridge collapse is having on this route?

Thanks,

Joe

Take GA 6 west to I-285. North on I-285 all the way to I-75 toward Marietta.
Stay out of downtown Atlanta unless you must be there.

The bridge collapse is a segment of I 85, NE of Atlanta.

Marietta is NW of Atlanta via I 75. Other than perhaps some increased traffic due to diverted traffic, there is no impact.

I live in downtown Atlanta. Personally, I'd avoid 285, as traffic on it is always the worse, in my opinion, but either way, 285 and 75 are the routes to take, so you should be fine either way.

I live in Atlanta, and drove to Macon and back yesterday. From what I saw, you're probably better off taking I75 straight through to Marietta.

As Kristen says, 285 traffic tends to be worse, and the fact that I85 is out means that there is (or at least was yesterday) a lot less traffic than normal on the "Downtown Connector" as many of those who would ordinarily take the Connector to I85 choose to go around on 285.

PS--if you decide to take I75, be sure to bear to the right on the Downtown Connector. Although there are lots of signs, it is counterintuitive to bear right when you are going to end up going left, but that's the way it is.

I was thinking about this last nite, and just looked at a map, and depending on the time of day you may be better off taking 285 from the airport to Marietta. It looks like a little bit shorter route than to go through downtown.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I'm leaving on Wednesday and would be glad to get any updates.

The answer is the same. Your route has nothing to do with the 85 bridge.
