ATL - new aquarium review?

Has anyone been? How was it? Crowded? Easy to see exhibits?

I haven't been. But I did see a detailed review and interview on the feature of the "big" tank there. It looks really awesome. It is on my list for sure.

Just went. Amazing. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

Crowded? To some extent, even on a weekday (Monday). I had reservations for noon. BUT, by 2 pm the place was far, far less crowded. For one, the school kids had gone. But, families with small kids (and the strollers) were headed out - for naps I suppose.

Very easy to see the exhibits - even with the crowds.

For folks in the general area - do join and get an annual pass. The annual pass = 20% off the food and gift shop items.

Food = my pasta lunch was yummy. I didn't feel it was that expensive - and the quality was good.

I asked cashier and she said M, T, W afternoons are the least crowded times to come.

You DO have to make reservations ahead of time. The website showed today as sold out - BUT they were selling tickets at the window today.

No lines. The opening craziness has died down.

A very, very enjoyable experience!

Yippeeeee, I'm going in May and am most excited!

I haven't been personally but two co-workers and a few friends have and every one of them was totally awed and bowled over.

The general reaction has been: pricey, but amazing and worth it. Much better than any aquarium that anyone's ever been to before. I also have heard that the crowds have died down and it's very manageable, esp. on weekdays.

I agree. I think this is a perfect example on why focus groups don't work.

I don't know ANYONE in Atlanta who thought an aquarium in downtown was a good idea.

I don't know ANYONE who has visited who hasn't enjoyed it (minus crowd complaints).

I was talking to a neighbor today who said they would be discontinuing the Annual Passes - the attendence has been far higher than anticipated.

I can't wait to go back.

starrsville: I know! [/monicagellar]

I was one of those saying "An aquarium in downtown ATL? How stupid!"

Now I can't wait to go b/c everyone has been raving about it. People can't get enough of the Beluga whales, especially. One friend said she could have watched them for hours.

I'd like to say how it was, but I went yesterday at 10:00, the tickets were being sold for 1:00. I had heard there might be a wait, was unaware it might be 3 hours. We left. I hope others can learn from my mistake !

YES! MAKE RESERVATIONS!!!

I think it was just a fluke that they were selling tickets the day I was there. I was VERY surprised that they had tix available. There wasn't a line - but that was a weekday.

I can't imagine it will be easy to get in on a weekend day or holiday for a long while.
