ATL 2 PHO by car

Planning on driving during December and would appreciate any suggestions for sights to visit along the way, and any interesting local insights.

OK, from WHERE to WHERE are you driving? I think the first point is Atlanta. But PHO?! Is that a Vietnamese noodle restaurant somewhere in Buckhead or something? All the ones here in CA start with the word "Pho".

If you mean Phoenix, the airport code there is PHX. And that's the way I'd plan to travel the over 1,800 miles between these two cities, especially in winter. In a comfy plane. Delta and US Airways/America West both run nonstops.

But seriously-- if you're moving to Phoenix, a one-way drive wouldn't kill you. But the Interstate route will be basically I-20 W to I-10 W-- and I can't think of much that's super-interesting along the way (it runs through Dallas, but the west Texas portion of the trip is deadly dull).

Honestly, air is by far the best way to go. And it's not that expensive.

Could it be Philadelphia (PHL)? After all, the "L" and "O" characters are next to one another on the keyboard.

There's an excellent Vietnamese restaurant called PHO 75 in Philadelphia (Washington St & 11th St). Highly recommended!

Thanks for the tips so far! Sorry was in a rush, but I meant from Atlanta to Phoenix.

Well it's a one way move so that's why we're going by car.

P.S. I love pho. If any of you are ever in town, please visit Chinatown which is in Doraville (just north of Atlanta but inside the perimeter I-285) They have several great pho joints but my favorite is Pho Bac.

Any thoughts on how long the trip will take? Mapquest says roughly 28 hours of driving travelling approximately 1900 miles.

Thanks again everyone.
