Astor Crowne Plaza

Hello! I just booked a 7 night stay at the brand new Astor Crowne Plaza, which I guess just opened on April 17th? I realize since its so new maybe nobody has stayed there yet, but if anyone has, I would love to hear your comments. Thank you!

Hey Tom for the rest of us, where exactly is this place?

Sam May 1st, 2002 01:10 PM

It's in New Orleans and all floors are not yet complete. We stayed there during the French Qtr Festival two weeks ago and were generally pleased with the room. HOWEVER, we did move to another hotel for nights 3 and 4 because of in-hotel construction noise. This construction should be done by the time you arrive but I'd ask.

It opened before April 17. Not sure of exactly when but I think around the time of Mardi Gras.

Just returned. Hotel is nice with just a little hassle here and there from construction.

Dax: if I may, you said you found the hotel nice. Was it comfortable, and would you say its deserving of its 4 diamond rating? How was the pool area? I am curious, because I will be there in June, and was staying at Le Richelieu, but got a great grand opening rate which I found hard to resist. How did you like the location. It appears to be a little away from some things. Thank you!

I don't know how it could have ANY rating when its brand new!!! I think they are saying it's four diamond quality, not an actual recipient. But yes, it was nice. Pool area was closed, though.

I understand the pool area opened the other day!

Wondering if anyone else has stayed there, and their overall impressions of the hotel.

I just stayed there. Very nice hotel. Though in the king deluxe room the window is a skylight right above the bed. It has no curtain so you get light in your face 24/7. Also if you book on their website make sure you have printout confirmation as they didn't have it when I checked in.
