Has anyone stayed at this resort in Maui? <BR>Is the resort nice? How are rooms? <BR>Thanks

You should try the Aston Kaanapali Villas. The beach is much nicer, and the resort is on much nicer grounds. We stayed there last year and loved it.

It's a very large condo complex. We stayed there about 7 years ago (have since stayed several times at The Mahana). The rooms/apartments vary from very nice to so-so, many of the so called ocean view only give you a sliver of a view. Ours was nothing to get excited about, it was "oceanview" and needed updating. Sizewise it was fine, a one bedroom with kitchen, dining area, livingroom & small lanai - I think we were on the 8th floor. There are a couple of shops, places to eat, etc. Grounds are nice enough but the beach is nothing to get excited about. the parking garage can be a bit tight to get around in. The Villas that the last poster talks about has a nice beach but most of the buildings are set back quite a ways from the ocean. It's a low rise primarily altho the main bldg. may be about 4 stories high, I can't remember exactly but we've walked around the grounds (nice lawns). It all depends on what you want from a place and how much you want to spend. We like The Mahana because all the condos are totally oceanfront (and air conditioned too). No surprises about the view, it's totally ocean.

Last time I looked Hawaii was part of the U.S. Post wherever you want, Sally, and don't mind the nasty people out there. Fodor's has messed up the format with dividing up the forums, let us hope they bring the U.S. back together soon.
