Aston Kaanapali Shores
Going to Hawaii In June, was checking into this place. Any info on it, good, bad etc.
Let me know thanks |
I forgot to mention the hotel Ason Kaanapali Shores

We stayed there a few years ago and liked it a lot. We had a ground floor 2-BR condo that opened right onto the pool and hot tub, with the beach just a few steps away, and that really made it terrific for us.
My elderly, handicapped mother was with us, and management was extremely helpful in letting us look at a number of condos to find the one that would work the best for us. They really went out of their way to make sure we were happy, and I give them a big rave for that. Without knowing who is in your party or what level of condo you are considering, here are a few pros and cons. It seems like a good hotel for kids, with several pools. There is a supermarket nearby and a small convenience store on the premises. There is also a decent poolside restaurant. Lahaina is about a 15 minute drive, but there are plenty of restaurants closer than that. I would say the only con is that the beach is rather narrow, but we didn't really mind that. |
We like it. We like the one bedroom condos with the ocean views.

It's fine. Stayed there a while back, 5 years or so but remember the beach was very nice. Our room was a condo. If you don't need a condo, you may want to check out priceline for a resort for the same price/less. www.biddingfortravel.com

The area is just north of the formal Kaanapali resort area and doesn't have quite the class and pizazz of that area but the tradeoff is much better rates especially considering what you get for your buck...fully supplied kitchens, washer & drier, decent health club and restaurant perks.
The hotel is undergoing continuous renovation & refurnishing so much of the dated parts will be gone within the year. But don't expect 5 star luxery. It is a three star in quality and service. |
There is a great condo right down the street called Kaanapali Alii...phenominal condos.
Go on this site to see them: http://www.classicresorts.com/ka/ka_index.html |
The Kaanapali Alii is not right down the street from Kaanapali Shores. It is about three miles away. Kaanapali Alii is in Kaanapali. Kaanapali Shores is in Honokawai.
By the way the beach at Kaanapali Shores is very poor and not very swimmable because of coral. If a nice beach is important to you go elsewhere. |
We stayed at the Embassy Suites Resort a few summers ago and walked over to the condos at KS. I was not impressed at all with the beach or the pools. (The rooms may be very nice as I did not see those.) Definitely think about the Kaanapali Alii if your heart is set on a condo.
