Aspen Budget Lodging

Which is a better choice - Boomerang Lodge or Chalet Lisl? Are there other accommmodations under $200 in peak season? Is it possible to book a condo or room directly from an owner? Thanks!

Have you tried vrbo.com?

NOTHING is cheap in Aspen -- especially lodging. If going to ski -- Snowmass might be a little more reasonable and I prefer that skiing area over Aspen.

We were looking for a lower end condo one summer, in downtown Aspen, and found one through Frias Properties. It was called the Dumont, I think. A large two-bedroom/two bath w/fireplace, underground parking, etc. It just was a bit dated and musty, but fine for our three night stay.

There is a huge difference in rates between summer and winter.

I completely agree with the Snowmass comment. Cheaper lodging, better skiing. Plus they have a free shuttle that drops you off right in Aspen.
