Aspen accomodations?
Visiting my daughter in Boulder for a few days in early October. She wants to take a day trip to Aspen and stay overnight. Can anyone recommend something reasonable ($150.00 or less). Restaurant recommendations also appreciated.

Thanks,
Denise
Denise

Denise,

I stayed at the Snowflake Inn last summer; good location a half-block from the downtown "green". Very reasonable. The top floor rooms of the motel-style inn actually have a mtn view, so ask for it. My room was a mini-suite, but I was charged for a regular room. (They may all be mini-suites; there was a separate living room area which I never used but it was kinda cool to have.)
Too many places to eat to even begin. Just go to a bookstore and check "Aspen" in a good travel guide.
I like having a drink on the patio of the old Jerome Hotel--an Aspen tradition.
--Logan

It appears several hotels are booked including the Snowflake for the weekend I need. Has anyone any info regarding the Gant Condo's?

Denise

We stayed at the Boomerang Lodge recently and liked it very much. Continental breakfast is included.

Try the Limelite Lodge. AAA 3 diamond. Their rates are below $150. Rooms 104, 105 or 106 in particular have taller windows than the rest of the rooms and awesome mountain views. Breakfast is included, close to shops/restaurants.

Recommend eating at Little Annie's, La Cocina, Su Casa, Motherlode, Red Onion, and definitely ice cream at the Paradise Bakery after dinner. It's very popular after dinner, and there's a line, but it moves fast. Mezzaluna is also very good, probably the most expensive of all above, but excellent food.

Other lodging choices in your price range - Mountain Chalet, Innsbruck Inn, Aspen Mountain Lodge. Mountain Chalet & Limelite have best location nearest mountain and shops/rest., etc. The other 2 are on Main st. Depends on where you want to be. Would recommend a trip up to the Maroon Bells and a stroll along the Rio Grande Trail over bridges and babbling brooks, or a beautiful drive up Castle Creek Road to Ashcroft ghost town.
