Ashland Oregon Best Western

We want to use Gold Crown points to stay at a Best Western in Ashland. Which is more desirable: The Bard's Inn or
the Windsor Inn? I know Bard's Inn is close to the Shakespeare Festival, but we will not be attending a play--just passing through town for a good meal and the atmosphere on our way south.

I love Shakespeare. He makes the best fishing equipment.

Hi happy trails,
These places are owned by the same people and are very similar. The Windsor Inn, being further from the festival, is less expensive, and if you're not seeing a play, is more than adequate.
If you're looking for a restaurant suggestion, I would recommend Lela's on A Street in the railroad district. Very popular with locals with an innovative menu.

Memo to Kal, from beyond:

The Bard's Inn is located right at the center of things: the festival, restaurants, shopping. The Windsor Inn is probably a little quieter.

We've stayed at the Bard's Inn a number of times. Be aware that the main motel is a typical sort of place. But they also have two buildings across the street that are MUCH nicer -- more like small apartment buildings. We've done a top floor room in one of those buildings which is VERY spacious and has a jacuzzi tub.

Branson...Ashland...what's the diff???
:-?

Kal, in Ashland they use first class Shakespeare fishing equipment. In Branson, they use a stick with a string.

Patrick, Thanks for clarifying the impression I had of the Bard's Inn. Unfortunately, when I asked the reservation clerk at the hotel in which property we would be staying, she said she didn't know. That's the dilemma. When hotels have "some small rooms" or "some noisy rooms," I always fear that's what I'm going to get.

Patrick Aug 20th, 2005 10:10 AM

Gee, I'm not sure why that is. They've always been able to tell us we would be in the "annex" across the street. I'd call again and see if they have rooms available there. If you don't specifically ask for that building, I doubt they would tell you.

Patrick, Thanks for anticipating my question. I will use the word "annex" when I try to clarify my booking. HT

Patrick, :)):)):))

I can see Andy and Opie Taylor walking down a dirt road whistling, skipping rocks in their tights and cod pieces.

Kal, You are a wild and crazy guy. HT
