Asheville North Carolina-Fall

My husband and I are planning a weekend getaway to the Biltmore perhaps in September. We would like to avoid the busy fall color traffic. My question is when does travel pick up for fall?

We love Asheville and go every Sept. The traffic on the parkway at that time is usually light, as fall starts more in October.
If you've never been, Asheville is a most wonderful place.Amazing food, huge concentration of Art Deco buildings, lots of galleries, very artsy-fartsy in general, beautiful scenery, good neighborhoods to explore. The Biltmore is very genteel, the mansion is awesome and the food at the Bistro is very good. The staff at the hotel is most attentive and the desk personel extremely helpful. They also have 2 concierge services to help plan your excursions.
That being said, the hubby and I actually prefer the Grove Park. The Biltmore is like classical music and the Grove is more rock and roll. Great Arts & Crafts architecture, lots to do on the grounds, 3 excellent restaurants, also great personel-bell captains remembered us from our first visit-and a spa that must have descended from heaven. you should at least go there and check it out-that's free.

Thanks for the great info. I have been to the Biltmore (about 20 years ago) but hubby never has. I've looked at the Biltmore hotel but will check out the Grove Park. Sounds like it may be more up our alley!

Thanks!

While the traffic around Asheville will start to pick up in late September we usually don't get much of any color until at least the first or 2nd week in October - but that of course depends on nature's influence.
