Asheville NC or Chattanooga TN?

I am looking for an overnight stop on my way back home from Savannah GA. Either route is about the same distance and time. So I am trying to figure out which would be the best for an overnight stay. It would probably be mid-afternoon before we would arrive at either one, any suggestions?

Ashville is a scenic, charming and quaint city. The Biltmore house is a possible side trip in Ashville.

I would elect Ashville over Chatanooga.

Check out the Arbor House in Black Mountain for a wonderful place to stay near Ashville. We loved it; the tour of the Biltmore estate was great too.

Asheville. Get on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a beautiful scenic drive.

Chattanooga is nice too. Will you have kids w/you? Lots of family attractions/activities.

A great place to stay is Bluff View:

Will you spend the next day there? There is an outstanding aquarium, a cool children's museum, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, a walking bridge, etc.

As much as I love Asheville, I agree with clarie that if you have younger kids, Chattanooga may be a better choice.
