Asheville Hotel Indigo

My husband and I are visiting Asheville form October 17-21. We have never been before but we want to do a mix of downtown exploring, Biltmore, driving the BRP, etc. With this late date it's very, very hard to find lodging. Hotel Indigo on Haywood Street has availability but I cannot tell how walkable it is? Distance-wise it looks about half a mile to many good downtown attractions but I'm not sure how safe/pedestrian friendly that half a mile or so is? Does anyone know?

Also, we're open to other suggestions on places to stay. It just seems to be that every Inn, hotel, etc. is completely booked up since this is so last-minutes.

Thanks!

Downtown is very walkable and distances are short. I'll let others comment on the safety of that specific spot, but I would be happy to stay in that location.

The Indigo is fine. Excellent facility, walkable and safe. Right next to a brand new Hyatt. There is also a new Hilton. The Haywood Park hotel is another good choice. All are walkable to the best downtown resturants. Check on other posts on this forum for resturant and other recommendations.
