Arlington Crystal City restaurant

Can anyone recommend a good American/Italian/Steakhouse restaurant in the Crystal City, Arlington area? I know Ruth Chris is nearby - has anyone ever been to Portofinos?

This is for a group dinner, approximately 18 people. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are staying at the Crystal City Marriott so we want to stay within 1 mile. I heard there is a Bistro in the Marriott - any feedback on that would be helpful also!

I'll say this for the Ruth Chris in Crystal City..GREAT views out over the airport action and the Potomac IF you can manage to get a table by one of the many windows....and that can be a very big "if."

The view at Ruth's Chris IS beautiful, and the food is wonderful, but it is very, very expensive. Are you on a budget? There is a McCormick and Schmick seafood place right there, too.

You could also take a taxi or walk a little farther to the new Pentagon Row mixed-use development near Pentagon City mall. They have some huge restaurants with gorgeous decor that would accommodate a large group. The Lebanese Taverna is wonderful, and the Italian place, Murali, is quite good, too. Here's a link: http://www.pentagonrow.com/dining.html

There is an ice rink in the middle of the restaurants in the winter, and they often have bands in the summer.

Good luck!

thanks for the responses. I'm calling Ruth Chris to see if they can work with my budget.

The link to Pentagon Row was very helpful! It seems like such a cool area and I really like what Murali has to offer. thanks again!

In Crystal City on 23 street there is wonderful in italian restaurant - Cafe Italia. It is very good. Also, you might consider Champs in Pentagon Row for an American Restaurant. In Potomac Yards there is a Hops Restaurant and Brewery - they have excellent steaks.

I second the Lebanese Taverna at Pentagon Row, it's our favorite place to eat in that area. I also like Murali.
