Arizona...where to go?
 

I'm very active on the Europe & Caribbean Forums but the Southwest is just a thought.
So, if we would like to go to Arizona in March 2016 and stay in a nice house with a pool, near or on a golf course, near town (Maybe Sedona for red rocks & shops, etc.) we need help.

There would be 2 of us for a week or so and family joining us for Spring Break for 1 week---so 3 bdr. sleeps 6 with kids in 2 separate beds, not a queen.

Where do we start? Budget open for a great property. After all we're used to The Caribbean in March which is quite pricy.

March in metro Phoenix is baseball's Spring Training and hotels fill up fast and rates go up. Sedona and Tucson don't have spring training, but it of course they still have spring break travelers and snowbirds so the sooner you can make up your mind, the better.

Are you wanting 2 different places for each week or the same (3bedroom) place for both weeks? If different places, do you want 2 locales?

What's your budget?

Just the beginning of an idea because my husband loves to golf and has shown some interest in Arizona in March.
Me? I'm still leaning toward TCI or Grand Cayman (actually he can golf there also.)

If we went without the kids I'd want to be in or near Sedona so I'd have something to do during the day---house or condo with a pool.
Budget up to $300 per day.

If we get the kids to join us (so 4 adults, 2 kids) probably up to $500 per day.

I think I'll have to do some research on the area as I'm not giving much info for you to help me.

Sedona is beyond gorgeous and well worth a visit, but there's a lot more for you to do in Tucson. (I'm not a big fan of Phoenix, personally.)

TPAYT, I feel I should amend my statement to say, of course it depends on what you like to do. If you love to hike, Sedona can't be beat (although Tucson has loads of good hiking, too); luxury spa facilities are probably more super duper in Sedona, too. And as I mentioned, the scenery in Sedona is spectacular.

A friend of ours rented a house in Sedona for his 40th birthday a while back and we had a great time. We went on a different hike everyday and it was stunning. Personally I'm not drawn to the New Age crystal stuff but the physical beauty of the area is lovely.

Another place I like is The Boulders resort on the northern (wilder) edge of Scottsdale. The have villas in addition to their regular casitas and the surroundings are very lovely. I like it because they have a very nice Golden Door spa with a full program of classes , steam roomand a separate pool. There is also a golf course which could be good for your husband.

I can recommend the Boulders, too. It's at the northern tip of the Scottsdale area so a day trip to Sedona up I-17, about 1 hour and 40 mins., isn't out of the question.

Not sure if they could meet your budget at that time of the year.

We have been to Sedona in March several times, usually stay at Enchantment Resort. We have had sun, snow and rain at various times so be prepared. Snow on the red rocks is beautiful.

Budget could go up as we pay far more than that in the Caribbean. I just thought maybe in the states it would be less.

Snow in March? I don't know if I'm ready for that. The kids went to Jackson Hole skiing last spring break and kind of wanted a warmer climate----14 yr. old loved the skiing but said she missed the sun, beach, & getting a tan.

Since we've never been to the SW I thought that maybe it would be something different.

Sedona's too high to be really warm in March; Phoenix/Scottsdale will be much warmer; Tucson somewhere in the middle.

The sun makes it feel warmer than it is, but not like a beach :-)
