ARIZONA/UTAH - ADULTS LOOKING FOR ADVENTURE
I am trying to plan a trip for me and my husband to Arizona/Utah area. I was thinking around March of 2014 if that is a good time to visit these areas. We love to hike and I just want to see some amazing sights. Would love some sample itineraries to make this an awesome and fun vacation.

There is no lack of exciting and dramatic places in both. March could be tricky for some of the places in Utah, as there could be snow that might limit your hiking. April would probably be a safer time frame for that part of your trip. Depending on how long you have for your trip, the top sites I'd recommend are Zion, Bryce, Escalante State Park, the North and South Rims of the Grand Canyon, Sedona, the Sahuaro National Monument. Depending on weather and driving conditions, and your hiking ability, you could probably do that in two weeks. If you're planning on a longer trip, in Utah, there's also Arches, Canyonland, Capital Reef, and in Arizona, the hiking around Sedona and Prescott is beautiful, as it is around Tucson.
I'm originally from AZ and have never run out of beautiful places to venture. Enjoy! |
Thanks for the info. Fortunately, we are flexible with the time of year we visit, but we will only have a week to visit. Would this be enough time to enjoy both?

Query the Utah forum for Zion, Bryce, Moab. Or just look at postings for the last month or so--LOTs of info there with suggested itineraries. In one week you could do one or the other, not both. (you could link the Grand Canyon with Zion/Bryce but that might be about it)

A great one week trip with fabulous hiking would be Grand Canyon (south rim), Zion, and Bryce. Some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. You would probably find it easiest to fly in/out through Vegas.
