Where is the best place in AZ to spend the winter. Want it to be warm and want to be able to swim, golf, etc.

Not really great swimming weather in AZ. My parents have an ingroung swimming pool in Gilbert and it is way too cold to swim. Unless you stay somewhere where there is a heated pool or an indoor pool you are not going to swim in AZ until about May. I will be there this friday for 9 days BTW. Tuscon may be a different story.

I disagree with Jesse.<BR>In Phoenix, for instance, the average daily high temp in mid-April exceeds 80, and by mid May is 95.<BR>Unless you're currently living near the equator, I can't imagine swimming is miserable when it's 80+ degrees.<BR>Yes, I know it still gets cool at night in April, but when the sun is beating down it still feels quite nice to swim on nice days in April.<BR>March is transition month. Occasionally there will be nice days when swimming is possible in March, especially late March, but don't bank on it.<BR>November-February's just too cold.<BR>BTW, Tucson is COLDER than Phoenix since it's at elevation (~2400 feet).

We do not find it comfortable enough to swim until about the second week of May, and even then, we swim in the afternoon. If your pool is heated, anytime during the winter should be fine. Golf, year around, though hot during summer, prices are lower to compensate.

Swimming in Phoenix in winter needs a heated pool unless you are a polar bear.<BR><BR>The average unheated pool in low humidity area (such as phoenix until mid July) is the average daily air temperature - high temp + low temp divided by two - MINUS 10 degrees. Therefore if the high temperature is 90 and the low temperature is 60, the pool temp will be (90+60)/2 - 10 = 65.<BR><BR>Even when the pool temp is 70, it feels cold when you get out because of the water evaporating so fast off you. Most people in Phoenix don't go swimming until the pool is around 80.<BR><BR>The warmest place in arizona in the winter is Yuma

Jesse obviously missed a key part of the question: swimming in WINTER, not April. All of the other posts are on the mark -- not warm enough in most of Arizona. Tucson, by the way, is cooler than Phoenix, so don't expect to swim there, either.

We were planning on being there mid Feb. to mid April. Any other suggestions on where to winter besides FL?
