Arizona PHX car rental

I will be flying into PHX with a very senior citizen. Need a car rental, and am wondering how long it takes to get from the terminal to the rental car center. And, once in the rental center, is there much walking to do?
Or would I be better to take the hotel shuttle and book car off site?

Thank you!

Ever since the Phoenix airport rental car center was moved to an offsite, location, it's become a bit of a hassle IMO. Yes, the shuttles do come every 5 or 10 minutes, but it seems to take 10-15 minutes to get to the car center, given in-town traffic it has to travel through. I'm not sure which option I'd recommend, but here is the link to more:

Take the hotel shuttle and much cheaper to rent away from airport!

Yes take the hotel shuttle. Enterprise will deliver the car to your hotel. Looking at Kayak, the cheapest rate is with Enterprise. https://www.kayak.com/Cheap-Phoenix-...18004.cars.ksp
Maybe tip a skycap for a wheelchair ride out to the shuttle location for your very senior person.

The other thing about waiting for the shuttle during the hot season is that it's miserable standing outside the terminal. Hot, noisy from the buses that are coming and going, and crowded with people trying to do curbside check-in. It's an altogether unpleasant experience.
