Arizona... or not ?

Interested in feedback from potential Grand Canyon visitors who do not agree with Arizona's stance on Immigration. Thank you.

Anyone in the world who has the money to travel there is a potential Grand Canyon visitor. Their opinions on immigration laws in Arizona do not belong on this forum.

Why would you allow politicians ruin your vacations?

Shanti Apr 27th, 2010 08:09 AM

There's a few ways of looking at it. I already have reservations for a trip to northeastern Arizona and I'm not (at least now) planning on canceling the trip.

Part of my rationalization is that I used to live in Arizona and like the people there, although I never understood how such nice people could keep electing such crazy politicians.

Most of my vacation time will be spent on Indian land and I don't see why I should boycott them because of this law. I do have a one night stopover at the Grand Canyon and am currently not planning on canceling this reservation, although it's possible. The Grand Canyon is a national, not state, park. My lodging money is going to a corporation and I bet it's not a local company. Part of the money will be going to local employees - but that's ok with me. Heck, for all I know, some of the local employees will be Hispanic and maybe even illegal aliens.

I'm sure every state in the Union and every country in the world has laws that I don't agree with. If I skipped all of them, I'd have to just stay home (not to say my own state, California, doesn't have some crazy laws, too). And I agree with dbdurand, this question probably belongs in the Lounge.

"If I skipped all of them, I'd have to just stay home" - or have to move constantly when new laws issued :))

Shanti, thanks. You make total sense to me.

Dbdurand and sf7307, thanks for pointing me towards the Lounge.

totally agree with sf and Dayenu..what I find weird is that you would not go to the Grand Canyon because of AZ new immigration law!

Most of my friends have homes and business in PHX and its out of control with drug violence, kidnapping but the media doesn't cover a lot of what is going on.

I love AZ and already booked my 4th of July stay at the 5* Montelucia and the Biltmore for a week!

I can't wait for the first time one of the Indians stop a redneck policeman and demand to see his immigration status!!
