Go Travel: $250,000 to park per season??? That can't be right. That's over $35,000 per game to park. Who is paying that kind of money, the average college football fan? Where are you getting your facts from?

Could it be wealthy alumni who are supporting the organization? Possibly the largest chuck of that is tax-deductible. Not sure. Just a guess

Top level in the Gamecock Club, or whatever its called, is only $15k. I believe the parking may be a bit less than that, but you guys have to figure out some way to pay Spurrier...

Sorry. If they were to play the Super bowl in my back yard, I'd sit on the front porch with my laptop, checking out Fodors!

I'm the complete opposite. I won't even go to SuperBowl Parties anymore because they are really just social gatherings & it is impossible to actually watch the game!

It's probably the only game I "watch" each year. Sometimes, I do watch part of the game. Usually, not.

I bought a special package for a Falcons game when they weren't doing well at all. $99 for 4 seats, 4 cokes, 4 popcorns and 4 hotdogs.

By the time the game rolled around, they were doing GREAT! I could have sold the tix for lots of moolah. Went to the game and enjoyed the food, company and event. The game was okay too.

snowrooster, you are so right- you don't get to watch the game at the Superbowl Party. That's why I have 2 rooms. One for watchers and one for talkers and all the rest. Guess which room I'm in. A clue: NOT with the women.

We started an unusual Super Bowl party tradition in Buffalo in the mid 90's, after having gone to the Super Bowl, 4 straight years. We have an outdoor party on our patio (yes, in Buffalo), complete with a fire, food and beverages. Back 10 years ago our kids were younger and played snow football in our backyard. The party is in the afternoon and everyone leaves before the game starts, as we are serious fans (even if the Bills aren't in the game) and want to watch the game without feeling like we have to play host. We've never had bad enough weather where we had to move inside.

I turned down an invitation to my neighbors SuperBowl Party last year because I told them we wanted to watch the game. I don't think they got what I meant & were mildly offended. They don't even watch football so going to their house & making small talk w/their friends was the last thing I wanted to do during the big game!!

I'd like to come to that kind of party, KathyK. I may even try out snow football - if I could wear my ski clothes of course!

snowrooster- why have a party if you don't watch football???

I'm not a football fan (7 years playing the flute in Pep band killed my interest).....but I'm related to a bunch of crazy Cougar fans (WSU) and I'll tag along, but I won't (probably) stay for the whole game...

Furthest they've been: CA for the Rose Bowl

Furthest I'd go- well, just about anywhere (UI played in Hawaii!! last year and I would have gone if I'd had the money...) Any excuse to travel!

Why have a party if you don't watch football? I think it's just an excuse for some people to eat a ton of really unhealthy food!!

Exactly! A reason to party and visit one another. Perfect timing. A few weeks after the holidays and you're in the mood to get together with friends for a party!

LOL. So true Snowrooster! It's the only day of the year we buy the orange nacho chip dip.

I prefer college football. We travel 3 hours to watch the Univ. of MT Griz home games. And I like Monday night (now Sunday night) football.

SAnParis, top level Silver Spur in the Gamecock Club is $10,000-$15,000 per season and then you have to purchase ticket on top of that. Each home ticket is $450 per season.

You cannot buy season tickets without becomeing a member of the Gamecock Club

It is very common for people to spend $20,000 per season on tickets.

The $250,000 parking spots are not per season but sold like real estate.

You cannot purchase parking at the stadium. The parking spots in the stadium go to high level donors and are numbered. I think there are a couple thousand but the numbered parking continues to the fair grounds and goes to the tens of thousands.

Oops forgot to add, regarding 'both' those Gamecock fans, South Carolina has some of the highest attendence in the country for football games.

The SEC leads the nation in football attendence and South Carolina averages almost 80,000 people per home game.

My stats:
