Are there wine tasting trips available from San Diego?
Will be in San Diego the 1st week of Oct. Are there any companies that offer shuttle service from Hotels in San Diego to close by wineries? Will be staying in the Gas Lamp district. Thanks!

This was discussed in this thread here.

Most of the wineries are in the Temecula area, about an hour north of San Diego on I-15, but there are a couple closer in. For Temecula here are a couple of businesses the offer tours starting in San Diego...

Orfila Winery in Escondido is pretty good..also, Bernardo Winery in Rancho Bernardo..both, right outside of SD about a half hour+ out of Gaslamp area.
Google on shuttle service or ask the concierge. Nothing compares to Napa/Sonoma area. |
Thanks for all the info.
Tchoiniere, as I am also going to a ballgame, the thread you sent me to was very helpful. |
I visited the Temecula wineries in the spring. I didn't know what to expect. I have been to Napa 4 times before and I wanted to try something new. i enjoyed the area a lot. There are some very nice wineries there. There were several places with picnic areas, delis, or restaurants onsite. It is not far from San Diego. We hired a driver for the day and the price was very reasonable.

Trent7, do you have the name of the company you went through? Which were your favorite wineries?
