I have posted twice to get hotel information for a vacation trip to Boise during Christmas, and not one response.

Would like to know personal experiences or thoughts about best part of town, etc. Here's hoping someone will resond.

I haven't stayed in Boise for years, and couldn't even remember where we stayed, lol! But Beachbum was there recently so hopefully he can help you out a bit.

I'm not from Boise, but I've gone there on business and was pleasantly surprised how nice the downtown was. Very very accessible. It's been a few years though, so I'm not much help to you. I do remember the hotel I stayed in was very nice, the restaurant very good. Shoot, I keep trying to remember, and it is just not coming to me. I'll try to look it up and come back to you. It seems to me there was a hockey rink next door. Was that Boise?

nanabee: I just checked and it looks like you didn't designate "Idaho" on your threads. Not that you necessarily need to re-post, but a lot of folks just click on thier home state (or states they are really familiar w/ ) and don't wade through the whole forum. So Idaho experts have likely not see any of your threads.

My sister lives in Boise, and I stay with her when I go there, so no help on hotels. It is a pretty town, though the high desert and sagebrush surroundings are not to my liking, and the downtown area is pretty lively due to the proximity of Boise State University and the state capitol buildings. I would stay close to downtown if possible. I've also enjoyed scenic drives from Boise to Idaho City, an interesting old mining town nearby, and to the upscale ski resort of McCall. There is a nice riverside park downtown, and a good museum (Idaho State History museum, I think).

toucan 2 thanks for your response too. if you do remember let me know. i had to chuckle at your last remark "was that Boise?" hmm are you trying to tell me something? LOL

Thank goodness for expense reports and keeping them on file! It was longer in the past than I remember, so I don't know how helpful this will be (2004 to be exact). This might be why I couldn't remember if it was Boise with the hockey rink!

I stayed at The Grove, South Capitol Blvd, phone 208-333-8000. It was very nice then(: I had a corporate rate of 92, but I think that was really really cheap.

It shows $147 at the restaurant there, Emilio's. I don't remember how many people were attending, or what we ate (it was a long time ago, remember!) but I do remember it being very good.

Hmmm. It was indeed 3 years ago, and I just took a look at TripAdvisor. Definitely not my experience three years ago, but the review on Trip Advisor aren't very good.
