I am planning a trip in December to the Four Seasons on the Big Island, and my parents would like to go with us. However, they would prefer to stay at a less expensive hotel. So, if anyone has any recommendations for a nice hotel nearby, I would really appreciate it. (FYI, it doesn't have to be super inexpensive, just more reasonable than the 4S rates). Thanks.

The Fairmont Orchid and the Hapuna Prince Hotel are both lovely and not too far away, although you would have to drive between them.

Plus the Hapuna Prince has a really good internet only rate of $199 per night... $241 per night with a car, I believe.

Thanks for the prompt responses! Does anyone happen to know how many minutes it takes to drive between these resorts (4S and Fairmont Orchid and 4S and Hapuna Beach)?

You are looking at around 20-30 minutes on the freeway to drive between the resorts listed. The Four Seasons is fairly close to KOA (Kona Airport).

Going north from the Airport you have the 4 Seasons and Kona Village about 5-10 minutes - then further north about 15 minutes is Waikoloa Beach Resort with the Outrigger/Marriott and the Hilton, then another 5 minutes north is the Sheraton Princess and sister hotel Mauna Lani, then another 5-10 Minutes north is the Hapuna Beach Hotel and then the Mauna Kea.
