Are there any brand-new courtesies?

The "Rant About Hats" thread got me wondering if there are any new 'courtesies' that have replaced some of the old ones that have fallen away?

I think that use of the internet and e-mail, while creating bad habits in some ways, have also given us some new courtesies. For example, in the past when I was a dinner guest at someone's home, I'd thank them for the lovely evening as I left the house but I'd never follow up with a written and posted thank you note -- something that was a common courtesy in the past.

But now I always follow up that verbal thank you with a e-mail note reiterating what a nice time I had at the dinner party.

Any other modern-day examples?

Used to be that pet dogs and cats ran free to make messes and cause mischief wherever they liked. Nowadays, that's pretty well taboo in most civilized areas. Healthier for the animals, too. But this probably isn't the kind of example that you were thinking of.
