are the tulips blooming in Colonial Williamsburg right now?
We'll arrive in Colonial Williamsburg in a week, on April 18th. We'll be there for 2 weeks, but I'm worried we're going to be too late to see the spectacular tulips in the Governor's Palace garden.
anyone know if they're just coming on, mid-bloom, or near the end?
Thanks!

Not too great on customer service, are they?
They were pretty much in full bloom last Wednesday, but they are most likely planted sequentially to have blooms for some time. There were certainly daffodils still around as well as the tulips, and here in Richmond, the azaleas are exploding daily as are dogwoods and redbuds, so there will be plenty of color. Start taking claritin now, because it is very polleny here right now! But glorious!

Got back home last night from Williamsburg and the tulips were gorgeous! They sure didn't last the whole 2 weeks, but we're beautiful for about a week! Thanks for your input!
Here's a pic I got of them: http://byamazinggrace.blogspot.com/2...nd-famous.html

The first week was perfect, and the second week had 4 days in a row of 93ish degree heat, but we were never miserable. There was a nice enough breeze and enough shade here and there. The only day I was miserable was Wednesday, our last day there. The temp dropped 30 degrees and it was breezy!

I loved Colonial Williamsburg - It was one of my favorite parts of the trip I took with my dd in October of last year. Your photos are wonderful. I admit to looking at your blog and your family is darling. My 12 year old has outgrown her American Girl dolls and I am so sad!
I hope you have taken her to one of the stores in Chicago, LA or NYC? What a great experience! I took my dd for her 8 or 9 birthday to Chicago - what a treat it was!

My dd and her "girls" Felicity and Elizabeth received lots of sweet comments in Williamsburg! It was fun!
Yes! We are planning to take her to Chicago for her 10th birthday in September. She is really looking forward to it! I'll be here asking for help for that trip as well!!
Thanks for browsing my blog and for the compliment!

We paid for something like Star of the day or something like that... it was worth the money - we went back stage for the play (which I was shocked was EXCELLENT and I love broadway/musicals etc - I was very impressed - we even saw it again in LA after they opened here. We stayed at the Marriott and everything was very close - you will really enjoy yourselves! Sept. should be very nice - it was still pretty cold when we went in early April. Worth every penny - wonderful memories!
