Are condos available for less than 1 wk? Looking around Sarasota or Tampa...

We will be traveling in March and would like to stay in the Tampa or Sarasota area. I've read nice things about Siesta Key, Longboat Key, & Anna Maria Beach on this forum. Since we'll have 4 adults, a condo makes sense but most places seem to rent for a 1 wk minimum. Can anyone recommend an agency/resort/complex that rents by the night? We prefer to be directly on the beach.

If anyone has specific units to recommend, that would be helpful too. We are looking for something very nice. I've looked at the Colony Beach Resort on Longboat Key but gotta believe that a private condo would be less expensive. Thanks!

To be perfectly blunt, March is HIGH season. Anyone willing to rent their condo for less than a week, probably has a place that is hard to unload. In Naples most condos won't allow rentals of less than one month or in some cases three months.

My first question to someone who is willing to rent a "nice place on the beach" by the individual night, would be "what's wrong with it that you can't rent it by the week or even by the month?"

Generally agree with above post. You did not indicate how many nights you are staying. If you are staying at least 4 nights it might be nearly as economical for you to book a weekly rate. Can't speak for other areas but Sarasota area has a glut of condo. rental units right now, a result of the softening real estate market.
That should keep rates fairly competitive this coming season.

I believe that the Palm Bay Club in Siesta Key rents by the night.

Thanks very much for all the replies. Good points. We will be staying for 4 nights so I will have to compare 4x daily to the weekly rate.

I've looked at www.vrbo.com, www.wedebrock.com, and www.flavacationconnection.com.

Try Harrington House. It is a b&b in Anna Maria, but I know they have several beach front houses/condos too.
