Holly,

If you are looking for green, why not look to smaller cities? Airline hubs are in major cities, trees are outside them.

Try some like Gatlinburg, TN; Williamsburg, VA; Traverse City, MI; Stockton, CA; or even St. Louis, MO. There are lots of cultural centers that are outside the concrete jungles.

Have fun.

Having lived in Grosse Pointe MI, Chicago and Houston - anyone who posts any of the above are lacking trees is a bit ignorant.

How about Philadelphia. One of the largest city parks in the world. I think I read somewhere that it is the largest.

This is one of the things I like best about my hometown, Raleigh. When you fly into RDU you see an enormous expanse of green in all directions. I've heard people say that places like New York and San Francisco offer a park within a city, whereas Raleigh is a city within a park.

That said, I think it's also possible for the countryside around a city to be beautiful without trees -- Albuquerque and Las Vegas come to mind.

I like conifers. They make me smile.
